Palomar College Football Players Take Their Talents to the Next Level

SAN MARCOS, CA (3/19/2025) -- Palomar College football continues to be a launching pad for student-athletes seeking to compete at the next level. This year, five standout Comets have officially committed to four-year institutions, continuing their athletic and academic careers. In addition, several more players have received offers and are weighing their options.

Committed Players

Steven Arteaga - Eastern Illinois University (FCS) A dominant linebacker, Arteaga has been a key force on Palomar's defense. Over two seasons, he amassed an impressive 92 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 21 tackles for loss. His ability to read plays and make game-changing stops has earned him a spot at Eastern Illinois, where he will look to bring his tenacity to the Panthers.

Jake Whitehead - East Texas A&M (FCS) Whitehead, a skilled wide receiver from Temecula, has demonstrated his ability to make big plays in the passing game. In two seasons, he recorded 663 receiving yards, averaging 33.1 yards per game with four touchdowns. Whitehead's hands and route-running ability make him a valuable addition to East Texas A&M's offense.

Isaiah Dixon - University of Arkansas-Monticello (NCAA DII) Dixon, a defensive back, has shown versatility and athleticism throughout his time at Palomar. With 30 career tackles and one forced fumble, he has the instincts and speed to be a playmaker at the University of Arkansas-Monticello. Dixon's presence in the secondary will be a key asset at the next level.

Dillon McDonald - St. Thomas University (NAIA) An anchor on the offensive line, McDonald's strength and size have been crucial for Palomar's success in the trenches. At 6'1" and 280 pounds, his ability to protect the quarterback and open up running lanes has made him a highly sought-after recruit. McDonald will continue his career at St. Thomas University, bringing his toughness and work ethic to their program.

Ja'Shon Williams - Central Methodist University (NAIA) Williams has been a reliable target in the passing game, showcasing his skills as a wide receiver. Over eight games, he accumulated 123 receiving yards, averaging 15.4 yards per game. His speed and ability to find open space on the field have earned him a spot at Central Methodist University, where he will aim to make an impact on their offense.

Several other Palomar standouts have received offers from various programs and are in the process of making their final decisions:

  • Davion Green - Offers from Sam Houston State, UC Davis, and Midwestern State

  • Kavyion Hicks - Offers from Winona State and Midwestern State

  • Jacob Sisson - Offer from College of Idaho

  • Christian Hall - Offers from Central Methodist University and the University of Saint Mary

  • Tucker Murphy - Offers from Bemidji State, Seton Hill, Wheeling University, and West Liberty

  • Kaleb Collings - Offer from Eastern Oregon

A Bright Future Ahead

Palomar College continues to produce talented athletes who excel both on and off the field. With five players officially committing and several others weighing their offers, the Comets' football program remains a strong stepping stone for student-athletes looking to advance their careers.
