
Six Comets Named to All-SCFA Southern League Teams
SAN MARCOS, CA (11/26/2024) -- The Southern California Football Association (SCFA) recognized six Palomar College football players for their outstanding performances during the 2024 season. The honors highlight the Comets' defensive prowess and the offensive contributions that helped them battle through a competitive year.
First Team Defense:
- Jaiden Letua (ILB): Letua was a defensive anchor for the Comets, leading the team with 75 total tackles, including 44 assists and nine tackles for loss. He added 2.5 sacks and an interception, consistently disrupting opposing offenses with his physical play and field awareness.
- Davion Green (S): Green had a breakout season, leading the state with nine interceptions, including two games with three picks each. His ball-hawking ability and 34 total tackles made him a key playmaker in the secondary, while his nine pass breakups added to his impressive defensive resume.
Second Team Defense:
- Kavyion Hicks (DE): Hicks was a force on the edge, recording 42 tackles and 8.5 tackles for loss, including four sacks. He also added seven quarterback hurries, making life difficult for opposing quarterbacks.
- Jacob Sisson (DE): Sisson contributed 58 tackles and a team-high 11 tackles for loss. His 4.5 sacks and consistent pressure off the edge made him a critical part of Palomar's defensive front.
- Steven Arteaga (OLB): Arteaga was a versatile defender with 65 total tackles, including five for loss. His ability to play in coverage and contribute in the run game earned him well-deserved recognition.
Second Team Offense:
- Chris Bausch (RB): Bausch was the engine of the Comets' offense, rushing for 783 yards and seven touchdowns on 150 carries. He averaged 78.3 rushing yards per game and had a season-long 85-yard run, providing a consistent ground attack throughout the season.
The recognition of these players underscores the effort and talent that fueled Palomar's competitive season. Their performances were key in the Comets' signature wins and kept them competitive against top opponents in the SCFA Southern League.
