Comets fall to Mounties on the road

WALNUT, CA (11/5/2022) -- No. 14 Palomar College traveled to Walnut to take on No. 2 Mt. San Antonio College for a conference matchup and lost 31-10. 

The Mounties struck first nailing a 41-yard field goal and then a 63-yard touchdown pass put them up 10-0 with nine minutes left to go in the second. Palomar's Kiah Reid passed the ball to Tajae Brooks and Brooks ran it 70 yards for a touchdown to close the gap right before halftime.

From there it was all Mounties as they scored 21 points before Landon Ogles kicked a 26-yard field goal to make the score 31-10 with four minutes left to play.

Reid finished the day with 156 passing yards going 11-23 and 17 rushing yards on six carries. Dez Taua had 13 yards on four carries. Brooks led the receivers with 104 yards on five receptions for one touchdown. On the defensive side, Rickie Davi Jr., Jalen Ramsey and Eric Russell all finished the night with six tackles. Ramsey had two tackles-for-loss for four yards. Their takeaway streak is now at 10 yards, going back to last season's bowl game. This time, Josh Perez and Kai Rijgerberg recovered the ball.

Palomar moves to 5-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play. They will host El Camino College for their final regular season game on Nov.12 for Military Appreciation Night.
