Football Week Four Preview

Coming off a loss to Citrus College last week, Palomar is hungry for their second win of the season. They will face Ventura College at home on Saturday night at 6 p.m.

Ventura is currently 2-1 with wins over Orange Coast College and Allan Hancock. They have allowed 23 points per game and 386.3 yards. On average, they allow 167.3 rushing yards and 219 passing yards. Offensively, they average 525.7 yards, 214.7 rushing and 311 passing.

Palomar averages 348.7 yards a game. The Comets average 259.7 passing yards and 89 rushing yards. Defensively they have allowed 323 yards, 153 rushing and 170 passing. They have allowed 26.7 points a game.

For Ventura, Dino Maldonado had a completion rate of 65.2 percent with 604 yards on the season. He averages 302 a game. He is also the leading rusher for the Pirates with 245 yards and an average of 81.7. Chuck Wick has 227 yards on 56 carries and an average of 75.7 yards a game. Terrell Vaughn has 278 yards on 19 receptions and averages 92.7 yards a game. Chris Reaves has 144 yards on 7 receptions and averages 48 yards a game.

Defensively, Travis Calloway has 27 total tackles with an average of nine tackles a game. Brett Moyer has 17 total tackles with an average of 5.7 a game. Cory Owens has recorded two sacks  and John Cervantez has one on the season.

Comet quarterback Rodney Thompson has a 58.9 percent completion rate and averages 206 passing yards a game. Thompson is also the leading rusher for the Comets with 94 yards on the season and an average of 31.3 yards. Tywanye Reed Jr. has 58 rushing yards and averages 19.3 yards. Johnny Armentrout has 238 receiving yards on 18 receptions. He averages 79.3 yards a game. Kyran Griffin also has 238 receiving yards on 18 receptions. He has two touchdowns and Armentrout has three.

Kameron Camp leads the Comets with 24 total tackles on the season with an average of eight a game. Giovanni Herrera has 18 with an average of six a game. Tommy Woo and Yusuf Leigh both have one sack on the season.

Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Escondido High School.
