Head Coach

Begins 20th Year at Palomar in 2024

Ben Adams will be entering his 20th season with Palomar baseball in 2024 and his sixth season as Head Coach. He has served as Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.

Adams has a been a member of the Palomar baseball staff since 2005, when he coached under Hall of Fame head coach Bob Vetter in Vetter's final season. Palomar advanced to the state community college championship game that season, losing to Santa Rosa in the finals. Adams spent the next 13 seasons as Associate Head Coach/ Recruiting Coordinator under Buck Taylor. This successful partnership was highlighted by winning 8 Pacific Coast Conference championships, 6 regional championships, a trip to the 2015 Final Four and #2 National Ranking. As Head coach, Adams has led the Comets to the 2022 Final Four as well as back-to-back conference championships in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Prior to Palomar, Adams was Assistant Head Coach at then-NCAA Division I Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana, from 2001-2004. Adams also coached in the Division III ranks at Kalamazoo College (1999-2000). Adams has worked numerous baseball camps at Stanford University, the University of Kansas, and Western Michigan University.

Adams began his collegiate playing career at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, Washington from 1994-1996. He received an AA degree from Big Bend in 1996. Adams then moved on to Eastern Oregon University in LaGrande, Oregon where he played from 1997-1999.

He earned a B.S. degree in health / physical education from Eastern Oregon in 1999 and received an M.A. degree in physical education from Western Michigan University in 2001.

Adams also serves as an associate professor in the Health/Kinesiology department. 

He and his wife Mary live in Oceanside with son Jackson (10) and daughter Vivian (8).
