Comets Clean Up in PCAC Awards, Set Sights on Postseason Run

SAN MARCOS, CA (4/29/2025) -- After capturing the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship with a 21-4 league record, the Palomar College baseball team earned widespread recognition in the 2025 All-PCAC selections. The Comets placed five players on the First Team and had seven more earn Honorable Mention honors — a strong reflection of their depth, consistency, and championship pedigree.

Behind the plate, Carter Jorissen was named to the First Team after an elite all-around season. The sophomore catcher hit .379 with 53 hits, 29 RBIs, and 43 runs scored, while posting a .505 on-base percentage. Defensively, he threw out 23 runners and maintained a .987 fielding percentage, playing a key leadership role behind the dish.

Jordan Treadwell was recognized as a First Team infielder, providing consistency on both sides of the ball. He hit .310 with 35 hits and 20 RBIs, adding six extra-base hits while helping turn five double plays at second base.

In the outfield, the Comets were led by Justin Tucker and Braedon Peterson-Cheek, both named to the First Team. Tucker patrolled center field and finished with a .343 average, leading the team in RBIs (40) and runs scored (47), while slugging .514 and going a perfect 10-for-10 in stolen bases. Peterson-Cheek was a steady force in left field, batting .337 with 34 hits, 28 RBIs, and 33 runs. He drew 29 walks, stole six bases, and brought energy and range to the outfield.

Brendan Shanahan rounded out the first-team honorees, earning recognition as a utility player. A do-it-all contributor, Shanahan hit .372 with 45 hits, 23 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases. He appeared all over the lineup and field, committing zero errors in 165 chances, underscoring his value as one of the team's most dependable athletes.

Seven Comets earned Honorable Mention status, beginning with infielders Jacob Loving and Adrian Macias. Loving hit .304 in 36 starts, driving in 28 runs and swiping eight bags, while Macias added 35 hits, six doubles, and 39 RBIs during a strong sophomore campaign.

On the mound, Brandon Bollerer and Ian Mowad were recognized for their work in the starting rotation. Bollerer went 6-2 in 12 starts, leading the staff in strikeouts (54) and innings pitched (59.2). Mowad also tallied six wins and struck out 60 over 65 innings. Joey Navarro, initially a reliever, transitioned into a starting role once conference play began and delivered a 5-0 record over 40 innings of work.

In the bullpen, Jacob Imoto provided a shutdown presence, earning four saves while posting a 1.99 ERA and striking out 43 in 31.2 innings. AJ Klubeck rounded out the Honorable Mention list as the team's designated hitter, batting .375 with 30 hits, 19 RBIs, and a .500 slugging percentage in 28 games.

With 12 All-Conference selections and a conference title under their belt, the Comets are now preparing for the postseason. Palomar enters the 3C2A Southern California Regionals as the No. 3 seed and will host Pasadena City College in a best-of-three series beginning Friday.
