Comets keep climbing in CCCSIA poll

SAN MARCOS, CA (3/16/2022) -- Palomar baseball started the season as the No. 14 seed in Southern California. Two weeks into the season, the first CCCSIA poll was released and they were ranked No. 23 befoe jumping up to the No. 10 seed in the state just two weeks later. In the latest poll, they jumped another two spots to continue rising as the No. 8 seed.

The Comets have knocked off top-ranked teams all season, including Riverside City College, twice, and split the series with Orange Coast College and Saddleback College. They finished with a 7-4 record against the Orange Empire Conference team and have begun conference play. Palomar split their opening series with Southwestern College and San Diego City College. 

Palomar's success this season has come from both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Sophomore catcher Devlin Lindeman has gone yard eight times and leads the state in home runs, while crafty left-handed pitcher Dylan Delvecchio leads the state with 56 strikeouts. Lindeman also leads the PCAC with 36 RBIs on the season. Right-handed pitcher, Logan Parker, has been an ace for the Comets all season and has a conference leading four wins, while relief pitcher Austin Schroeder leads the conference with five saves. Parker sits behind Delvecchio in the conference standings with 41 strikeouts. 

Through 20 games this season, the Comets have scored 199 runs with a team batting average of .336, a .412 on base percentage, a slugging percentage of .507 and 18 home runs. Lindeman leads the team with a .385 batting average while second baseman Bryson Hashimoto is hitting .325 and has a team-high eight doubles to go along with four home runs. 

Palomar sits at 14-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play with an impressive 9-1 home record.
