
Women's Water Polo Goes 2-2 at Ventura College Tournament
VENTURA, CA (10/11-12/2024) -- The Palomar College women's water polo team had a solid showing at the Ventura College Tournament over the weekend, finishing with a 2-2 record across four games.
The tournament opened with a dramatic overtime victory against Modesto College, where the Comets edged out a 7-6 win. Madalyn McKellar got Palomar on the board early, netting two unassisted goals. Ayano Tsuda and Keyanna Mucino added to the offensive surge, while goalkeeper Laura Bodrogi recorded seven saves in a strong defensive effort.
Later in the day, Palomar faced Merced College but struggled to keep pace, falling 12-5. Emily Freeman and Ruby Jones led the Comets' offense with two goals each, but Merced's offense proved too strong.
On day two, the Comets were up against Orange Coast College, where they suffered a 12-3 defeat. Ruby Jones netted two goals, and Tessa Ferragamo scored once, but the team couldn't overcome a relentless Orange Coast attack.
Palomar bounced back in the final game, dominating Pasadena City College with a commanding 14-1 win. Emily Freeman led the charge with three goals, while Tessa Ferragamo and Georgia Jensen each added two goals. Goalkeeper Laura Bodrogi allowed just one goal and recorded six saves.
Next, the Comets will head to Grossmont College on Wednesday for a key conference matchup.
