Palomar Splits Home Mini-Tournament, Dominates Cerritos, Falls to San Diego Miramar

SAN MARCOS, CA (10/5/2024) -- The Palomar Comets women's water polo team hosted their second mini-tournament of the season, splitting their two games to move to 6-10 on the year. In the first game, the Comets dominated Cerritos College, securing a 20-4 victory. Madalyn McKellar and Ayano Tsuda led the charge with five goals each. Sophia Wicks, Kennedy Magnusson, and Veronica Torres also contributed, combining for six goals. Wicks played an outstanding defensive role in goal, making six saves to secure the win.

In the second game of the day, the Comets faced off against San Diego Miramar College, falling 20-16 in a high-scoring affair. Emily Freeman spearheaded Palomar's offensive effort with five goals, while Kennedy Magnusson and McKellar each netted three goals. Despite 13 saves from goalkeeper Laura Bodrogi and seven from Wicks, Palomar could not contain Miramar's Erica Pircher and Emma Roberson, who combined for 11 goals.

Palomar will look to build on their strong offensive showings as they prepare for their next tournament.
