Comets declaw Jags to close out conference

SAN MARCOS, CA (10/26/2022) -- In their final conference match before the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Championship Tournament, Palomar College defeated Southwestern College 15-7 on Wednesday afternoon.

After an unusually slow start, the Comets struck first with a goal by Sierra Molina on an assist by Devyn Wible to take a 1-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. From there the floodgates opened. The Comets scored six goals in the second to the Jaguar's three to take a 7-3 lead at halftime and tacked on seven more goals in the third and one final gol in the fourth.

Molina led the team with five goals, while Elena Pena and Anna Draves both had four. Draves had five assists, while Wible and Bella Chacon each had three. Hannah Morris finished the day with four steals.

The Comets finished their conference schedule undefeated and will have the No. 1 seed in the PCAC tournament next weekend. Palomar sits at 13-7 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
