Nine Comets Earn All-PCAC Honors, Janell Spires Named to All-Southern Region Team

SAN MARCOS, CA (11/26/2024) -- The Palomar College women's volleyball team's outstanding season has been recognized in a big way, as nine Comets earned All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference honors. Highlighting the accolades is standout outside hitter Janell Spires, who not only made the All-PCAC First Team but was also named to the prestigious All-Southern Region Team.

Spires was a force on the court this season, finishing with 288 kills (3.74 kills per set) while maintaining a .233 hitting percentage. She also contributed 36 service aces and 109 digs, showcasing her all-around impact for the Comets.

Joining Spires on the First Team are:

  • Cadence Young, the defensive anchor who recorded an impressive 283 digs and a stellar .965 serve reception percentage.
  • Brisa Necochea, who dominated at the net with 116 kills, a .211 hitting percentage, and 49 total blocks.

Representing Palomar on the Second Team are:

  • Emma Bambe, a dynamic outside hitter who tallied 123 kills with a .158 hitting percentage, along with 26 service aces and 160 digs.
  • Teiora Tinoisamoa, an impactful freshman middle blocker with 151 kills, a .225 hitting percentage, and 66 total blocks.
  • Ashlynn Craven, the team's setter, who delivered 577 assists (5.82 assists per set) while adding 103 digs and 20 service aces.

Earning Honorable Mention honors are:

  • Delina Becker, who contributed 77 kills111 digs, and 20 service aces in a versatile role.
  • Sierra Schoenwald, a middle blocker who added 48 kills, a .180 hitting percentage, and 21 total blocks.
  • Kylana Madayag, another key setter who notched 368 assists (5.94 assists per set) and 114 digs.

This recognition is a testament to the depth and talent of Palomar's squad, which made its first playoff appearance since 2015. Congratulations to these incredible student-athletes and the entire team for an outstanding season!
