No. 24 Palomar Triumphs in Showdown with No. 25 MiraCosta College
Janell Spires was unstoppable, racking up 20 kills to lead the offense. Emma Bambe provided valuable support with nine kills, while Sierra Schoenwald added seven to round out a balanced attack. The Comets' front-line defense was anchored by Brisa Necochea, who tallied four blocks, with Teiora Tinoisamoa adding two crucial stops at the net.
Defensively, the Comets were equally impressive. Libero Cadence Young was a standout with 23 digs, while Spires contributed 18 and Bambe added 12, as Palomar kept MiraCosta from building sustained momentum.
After taking a commanding two-set lead, Palomar faced a spirited response from MiraCosta in the third set. However, the Comets regrouped and battled back to close out the match in the fourth set, displaying their signature grit and determination.
With the atmosphere electric and the stakes high, Palomar rose to the occasion, putting on one of their most complete performances of the season. The Comets will look to build on this signature win when they travel to San Diego City College on Friday.
