Palomar Rallies for Reverse Sweep Over Golden West College
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (9/13/2024) -- In a thrilling comeback, Palomar College pulled off a reverse sweep on the road against Golden West College, winning 3-2 (22-25, 23-25, 25-19, 28-26, 15-10) on Friday night. The victory moves the Comets to an impressive 5-1 finish in their non-conference schedule, with one make-up game still to play.
Janell Spires continued her dominant season with 20 kills, leading the Comets' offense. Emma Bambe stepped up with 10 kills, and Teiora Tinoisamoa added nine, contributing to Palomar's balanced attack.
Defensively, Janell also shined with 18 digs, while libero Cadence Young added 17 to keep rallies alive. Bambe rounded out her all-around performance with 14 digs and three aces, providing crucial contributions both at the net and from the service line.
The Comets showcased resilience after dropping the first two sets, responding with a commanding win in the third set and a hard-fought 28-26 victory in the fourth. In the decisive fifth set, Palomar maintained their momentum, clinching the match with a 15-10 triumph.
