Palomar College Dominates in Straight-Set Victory

SAN MARCOS, CA (8/28/2024) -- The Palomar College women's volleyball team delivered an impressive performance in their second match of the season, securing a commanding 3-0 victory (25-23, 25-20, 25-20). The Comets showed poise and resilience throughout, marking their first win of the season with this sweep.

Janell Spires was the standout star for Palomar, leading the charge with 17 kills on 42 attempts, hitting at a solid .238 percentage. Her all-around game was on full display as she also contributed 13 digs, demonstrating her ability to excel on both offense and defense. Sonsi Jarvis added crucial support, registering eight kills on six attempts without an error, boasting a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage. She was also strong defensively, recording nine digs.

Brisa Necochea made a significant impact as well, notching seven kills with an impressive .385 hitting percentage, while also adding five digs. Teiora Tinoisamoa contributed seven kills with a .400 hitting percentage, proving to be another key offensive asset for the Comets.

Kylana Madayag was a force to be reckoned with, leading the team with 22 assists and nine digs, ensuring that the Comets' attack was consistently potent throughout the match. The team's defensive efforts were solid, with a total of 58 digs and 14 block assists, stifling their opponents' attempts to gain momentum.

The victory sets a positive tone as Palomar looks ahead to their next match against El Camino College. With this strong showing, the Comets have proven they are a team to watch this season, and they will be aiming to build on this momentum in the upcoming games.
