Comets defeat Wolverines in thrilling fashion

SAN BERNARDINO, CA (8/26/2022) -- In their first match of the season, Palomar defeated San Bernardino Valley College 3-2 in a thrilling match. The Wolverines took set one 27-25, but the Comets came back to dominate in the second set (25-10), dropped the third set (25-21) and won the final two sets (26-24, 15-12) to secure the match win.
After a close first set, head coach Karl Seiler reinforced what they've been doing at practice. The Comets were serving machines in the second set, especially freshman Bailey Prieto. She went to serve 10 points in a row for the Comets.
"It was a battle," Seiler said. "We didn't play all that steady but the girls worked very hard and stayed committed to the win."
The Comets will be back in action on Wednesday, August 31st as they host College of the Desert for their home opener. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
