Comets pick up first conference win

SAN DIEGO, CA (10/18/2019) – Women's volleyball snapped their 10-game losing streak Friday night when they defeated San Diego Miramar College 3-1 on the road. The Comets took the first set 25-18 and the second set 25-13. The Jets came back and won the third set to force a fourth. The Comets won set four 25-21.

Hot hitter Alina Lecakes-Jones had eight kills with 39 total attacks. Right behind her were Sarah Nelson and Carsyn Emerson who both had seven kills. Emerson had 22 attacks and Nelson had 14. Zandrea Brown had four kills and 19 attacks. Maile Counts led the team with 15 digs and Brown recorded 14. Emerson and Clare Saalfeld both had 12 assists. Lecakes-Jones had three service aces and Saalfeld had two.

The Comets are now 3-13 overall and 1-8 in conference. They are tied for eighth place with Miramar. The women will be back home in the Dome on Friday night to take on MiraCosta College at 5 p.m.
