Women's track sends three to state; Rodriguez named PCAC Coach of the Year
The track and field state championships were held at San Mateo Community College May 17-18. Palomar had three athletes competing.
Tria Ismay competed in the 400-meter hurdles and finished with a time of 68.71. She placed eighth and received a podium spot.
Jennifer Pedroza finished in 10th place in the heptathlon after being a 12th place seed. She ended with a total of 3375 points.
Alicia Zappia competed in the long jump and had a 12th place finish. She had a jump of 4.89 meters.
Head Coach Sonia Rodriguez was also named the 2019 Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. She said the award reflected what her coaching staff has accomplished over the past two seasons at Palomar.
