Comets Show Improvement at 39th Annual Mt. SAC Invitational

WALNUT, CA (3/1/2025) -- Palomar College swim teams continued their season at the 39th Annual Mt. SAC Invitational, where several swimmers posted improved times and strong performances against tough competition.

Women's Highlights

Ruby Jones continued her impressive season, showing gains in the 100-yard IM (1:08.90, improving by 1.3%) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.07, improving by 1.4%). She also swam the 50-yard freestyle in 27.28, a slight 0.4% improvement.

Tiana Timmons posted a strong showing in the 500-yard freestyle (5:57.90) and 200-yard backstroke (2:27.29), remaining a key competitor for the Comets in the longer events. Devyn Wible, Georgia Jensen, and Emily Freeman also contributed with solid performances, helping Palomar stay competitive throughout the meet.

Men's Highlights

John Fritz led the men's team once again, showing slight improvement in the 100-yard IM with a time of 57.55, shaving 0.1% off his previous performance. He also improved in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 51.18, a 1.4% drop from his last swim. Fritz competed in multiple events, including the 400-yard IM (4:37.73) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.97), maintaining consistency across different strokes.

Brian Otto saw significant improvement in the 100-yard breaststroke, where he finished in 1:17.42, a 4.8% drop in time. He also posted a time of 26.62 in the 50-yard freestyle, improving by 1.8%. His continued progress signals steady development as the season unfolds.

 

Looking Ahead

With multiple swimmers achieving personal bests and season-best performances, the Comets continue to build momentum as they prepare for their next competition. As training progresses, Palomar looks to fine-tune their performances and carry their improvements into upcoming meets.
