
Comets Shine at Golden West Sprint Meet
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (2/21/2025) --Palomar College swim teams continued their early-season competition with a strong showing at the Golden West Sprint Meet, facing tough competition while delivering impressive performances.
Women's Highlights
Ruby Jones continued to be a force for the Palomar women's squad, posting times of 27.42 in the 50-yard freestyle and 59.73 in the 100-yard freestyle. She also delivered a competitive 2:14.00 in the 200-yard freestyle, proving her endurance across different distances.
Tiana Timmons impressed with a 1:11.27 in the 100-yard backstroke, while Devyn Wible showed her strength in the distance events, finishing the 500-yard freestyle in 6:06.54. Georgia Jensen and Isabella Moncada also had strong swims, adding to the team's overall performance.
Men's Highlights
John Fritz led the way for the Comets with standout performances across multiple events, clocking a 57.49 in the 100-yard IM, a 56.46 in the 100-yard backstroke, and a 51.90 in the 100-yard freestyle. His speed and consistency showcased his versatility in the pool.
Brian Otto delivered solid swims, including a time of 1:13.87 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 1:10.38 in the 100-yard IM. Kameron Lypps and James Ellsworth contributed with strong efforts, particularly in the freestyle and backstroke events, keeping Palomar competitive throughout the meet.
Building Momentum
With another solid competition under their belts, the Comets continue to build momentum for the season ahead. The team looks to fine-tune their performances as they prepare for upcoming meets and conference challenges.
