Comets bring the heat at PCAC Invite #2
SAN MARCOS, CA (3/15/2024) -- In their final home meet of the year, Palomar hosted the second PCAC Invite up on the pool deck on Friday afternoon.
Diver Megan Gornall stole the show as she swept the diving competition, which is held at San Diego Mesa College. Gornall has been on a tear this season and Friday was no exception. She won the 1M with a score of 218.17 and then won the 3M with a score of 242.75. In the pool, Isabella Chacon had a third-place finish in both of her events. She finished the 200Y Free with a time of 2:29.78 and then turned around and finished the 200Y Back with a time of 2:41.99. Maggie Tanner swam the 1000Y Free and the 500Y Free and finished fifth and fourth, respectively. Her fourth place 500 Free finish was with a time of 6:48.02. Ayano Tsuda won both her events. In the 1000Y Free, she finished with a time of 11:30.78 and then won the 500Y Free with a time of 5:30.60. Devyn Wible competed in the 100Y Breast and the 100Y Free. She swam the 100 Back with a time of 1:27.33 for a seventh-place finish and then the 100Y Free in 1:03.86 for a sixth-place finish.
On the men's side, Manny Carriles had two third-place finishes. He swam the 200Y Free with a time of 1:55.64 and then the 100Y Free in 53.43. Emmanuel De La Torre won the 200Y Breast with a time of 2:31.04 and then placed fourth in the 200Y Free (2:01.13) and the 200Y IM (2:18.10). Nathan Heon had a seventh-place finish in the 100Y Breast with a time of 1:22.70. Lei Jin swam the 1000Y Free the fastest, earning him a first-place finish with a time of 11:21.63. He also swam the 500Y Free in 5:22.34 to finish in fourth. Dylan Valentine swam the 100Y Back, 100Y Free and the 100Y Fly. His best finish was the 100 Fly, which he swam in in 1:12.09, to finish in sixth.
Palomar will compete in their final conference invite next Friday down at Southwestern College.
