Palomar Draws with Grossmont College, 2-2

EL CAJON, CA (10/29/2024) -- In a closely contested match, the Palomar College women's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw with Grossmont College. The Comets opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Ashley Clark found the back of the net off an assist from Rebecca Mendoza, marking her 19th goal of the season.

Nadia Shimasaki added to Palomar's lead in the 39th minute with a goal assisted by Clark, sending the Comets into halftime with a 2-1 advantage. Grossmont, however, managed to equalize in the second half, resulting in a hard-fought draw.

All three of Palomar's goalkeepers saw time in the net. Gianna Velasco played the opening 30 minutes, recording one save. Audrey Arballo took over for 40 minutes, also tallying one save, while Kaylee Cole closed out the match with four saves over the final 20 minutes.

The Comets are now 7-9-1 overall and hold a 6-6-1 record in conference play as they push towards the end of their season, aiming to finish strong in the remaining games.
