Palomar Defeats Imperial Valley 5-0 with Second-Half Surge

IMPERIAL, CA (10/11/2024) -- Palomar College women's soccer team unleashed a second-half offensive display to secure a 5-0 victory over Imperial Valley College on the road. All five goals came in the latter 45 minutes, with standout sophomore Ashley Clark leading the charge with four goals.

Clark opened the scoring in the 56th minute with an unassisted strike, quickly following up with a second goal in the 60th minute off an assist from Macey Edemann. Just five minutes later, Abigail Reyes found the net, capitalizing on a pass from Roxane Contreras. Clark continued her impressive night, completing her hat trick in the 75th minute with Edemann's second assist, and then capped off the scoring in the 86th minute on a setup from Emily Thompson.

Palomar's defense held strong as all three goalkeepers contributed to the shutout. Gianna Velasco played the first half, while Audrey Arballo and Kaylee Cole split duties in the second. Cole recorded two saves to keep Imperial Valley off the scoreboard.

This win adds to the Comets' momentum as they continue their conference play, bolstered by another standout performance from Clark and a resolute team effort.
