Comets snag first win of season

SAN MARCOS, CA (8/26/2022) -- In the first 2022-23 athletic season competition, Palomar defeated Mt. San Jacinto College 1-0 on Minkoff Field.

As a team, the Comets haven't been able to find the net this season through two scrimmages, but they were able to break through today as Emma Guevara scored the Comet's lone goal on a corner kick by Katherine Golec in the 29th minute. It was all defense from there. Sarah Mullin, Golec, and Edith Gonzalez put on a defensive showcase and they needed to as Analyse Ramirez jumped in as goalkeeper for the first time in her career and recorded save after save to maintain the shutout victory. In extra time, the Eagles threatened to tie the game, but Layla Moore headed the ball and Isabel Alon cleared the ball to secure the win for the Comets.

The Comets will be on the pitch again on Tuesday, August 30th for the first soccer doubleheader of the season as they host Los Angeles City College at 3 p.m.
