Difenbach scores 1st goal of year in soccer loss

CHULA VISTA (8-30-2017) -- Leilani Difenbach, a freshman from Valley Center High School, scored Palomar's first goal of the women's soccer season on Tuesday, off an assist from Michelle Skjupnjck, a freshman from St. Francis High School in Sacramento. but it turned out to be a rare bright spot as the Comets dropped their 2017 opener to host Southwestern 6-1 at DeVore Stadium.

The goal came in the 58th minute and cut the Jaguars' lead to 2-1.

Goalkeeper Rosa Lopez, a freshman from Guajome Park Academy, recorded four saves in goal for the Comets.

Damaris Agujilar recorded a hat trick to lead Southwestern, which advanced to 2-0 on the season in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference cross-division game, which will go into the books as a non-conference game. The Jaguars had won their opening game over Norco 7-0. Her goals came in the second, 82nd and 83rd minutes.
