Comets finish in 4th at ELAC Brawl

Comets family and friends,

This past weekend, we had a partial squad head up to East Los Angeles College to compete at the ELAC Brawl.

We finished in 4th place as a team and had three individual place winners (top 4):

My Thoughts:

For the most part, I was happy with the team's performance and fight, especially considering we came in 4th place with virtually all of our starters sitting this one out.

Mustafa Farha stepped up and took out the #3 ranked wrestler in the 3C2A by major decision. He has now beaten the #2, #3, and #7 ranked wrestlers at 285 and has proven himself to be a contender for the heavyweight title.

As I told the guys, this tournament held significant weight in my decision on who to take into the postseason. Some guys understood the assignment and wrestled with focus, attitude, and poise. We will have our postseason lineup set very soon.

What's Next:

It's postseason time! We'll have just under two weeks to make the final preparations for the 3C2A Southern Regional Championships, which we're hosting right here at Palomar College. Our goal is to get our guys through regionals and on to the state podium the following week.

On the women's side, the first official day of season is January 15th. I will have the schedule finalized very soon. If you know anyone who's interested in joining our women's team, please let me know.
