Perez and Weimer continue to shine at Bill Musick

Comets family and friends,

This past weekend, we competed at the Bill Musick memorial tournament at Fresno City College.

The men's team placed 5th under the 3C2A's #1, 2, and 4 ranked teams and finished just 5 points behind Arizona Christian, which is a 4-year NAIA school.

We had 5 athletes place in the top 6:

We also had a few others make it into the top 8 (they only wrestled the 1st, 3rd, and 5th place matches): Elijah Nero, Edgar Silva, and Mustafa Farha.

On the women's side, Anya Rodriguez dominated her competition, winning both the individual and team title for Palomar.

My Thoughts:

Overall, we looked solid and right where we need to be. My primary focus is that we're making the right adjustments each match, fighting hard, and believing in our practice effort. I believe that this is what I'm seeing.

Both Dorian Parker and Liam Clark lost early in the bracket but got revenge on the same opponent to close out the day. Anthony Perez and DJ Weimer both took on #1 ranked opponents in the finals and showed that they can win. The rest of the team is clearly improving in the small areas of focus.

I'm excited to make the last push towards December. This team is hungry and motivated to make some noise in the championship season!

What's Next:

We'll be competing at the ELAC Brawl next weekend, which will be our last scheduled competition of the season. We'll then have the 3C2A Southern Regional Championships at home in our gym.
