Wrestling finishes 3rd at SoCal Dual Championships
Comets family and friends,
This past Saturday, the Comets competed at the CCCAA Southern Dual Meet Championships at Cerritos College. We entered as the seventh seed and finished with a 3-1 record and the third-place team trophy.
While things started slowly with a loss against Bakersfield, these young men responded like champions. They collectively decided to fight for their team, earning convincing wins over East LA, Rio Hondo, and Santa Ana.
Final team results:
1st Place - Cerritos College
2nd Place - Mt. San Antonio College
3rd Place - Palomar College
Every team member played a role in getting this team trophy, so it's hard to single anyone out. However, I must highlight stellar performances by Randy Lockwood (4-0), Owen Wilson (4-0), and Celso Silva (4-0). These three (and some others) have really reached another level as leaders and competitors. The rest of the team also contributed; every ounce of effort matters in a dual meet tournament.
Before shifting the focus to what's ahead, I have to provide some context. Last year, at this time, we were ranked last in the CCCAA. I'm immensely proud of the guys for believing in themselves and making these strides in such a short period. Mindset is everything!
What's Next
This week, we have a quick turnaround with Mt. San Antonio College (away) on Wednesday and the Meathead Movers Invitational Tournament (@Cuesta College) on Saturday.
