
Palomar Defeats MiraCosta to Stay Unbeaten in Conference Play
SAN MARCOS, CA (1/29/2025) -- The Palomar College women's basketball team continued its dominance in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC), securing a 77-60 victory over MiraCosta College on Wednesday night. With the win, the Comets improved to 14-6 overall and 6-0 in conference play, maintaining their position at the top of the standings.
Angelina De Leon led Palomar with a standout performance, scoring 19 points while pulling down 12 rebounds for a double-double. Kylee Trujillo added 15 points, hitting two three-pointers and going 3-of-5 from the free-throw line, while Angeline Valdivia contributed 10 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Palomar's aggressive defense was a key factor, forcing 28 turnovers and converting them into 32 points. The Comets also dominated the glass, outrebounding MiraCosta 53-44 and scoring 25 second-chance points. Their bench provided a significant boost, outscoring MiraCosta's reserves 37-6.
Despite a competitive first half, with Palomar leading 38-32 at the break, the Comets took control in the third quarter, outscoring MiraCosta 24-12 to create separation. They maintained their lead through the fourth quarter, securing their sixth consecutive conference win.
Palomar now turns its focus to the second round of conference play, beginning with a crucial road matchup against San Diego Mesa College on Friday. The Comets will look to extend their unbeaten streak and continue their push for a conference title.
