SAN MARCOS, CA (11/16/2024) -- The Palomar College women's basketball team wrapped up their annual Comet Classic Crossover in commanding fashion, rolling past East Los Angeles College 84-47 on Saturday night. With a combination of stifling defense and sharp shooting, the Comets improved to 4-1 on the season and continued to show why they're a force to be reckoned with.
Nevaeh Mageo was unstoppable, leading all scorers with 23 points, including an impressive seven three-pointers. Teanna Alaman had a standout game, recording a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Kylee Trujillo added 14 points, including three three-pointers of her own.
Palomar's aggressive defense was on full display, forcing 24 turnovers and converting them into 29 points. The team's bench also contributed significantly, scoring 18 points and maintaining the high level of play throughout the game. In the paint, the Comets outrebounded East LA 56-35 and added 14 second-chance points to their total.
The game was effectively decided in the first half, with Palomar racing to a 52-18 lead. They maintained their dominance in the second half, ensuring there was no comeback opportunity for East LA.
Next up, the Comets will return to their home court on November 27th for a 4 pm matchup against Mt. San Jacinto College.
