Five receive All-PCAC honors

SAN MARCOS, CA (2/22/2020) – Five women's basketball players received All-PCAC honors this season. Sophomores Nikki Mayoral, Melena Bland and Lilly Crabtree receive first-team honors while sophomores Julie Saelee and Taylor Williams receive the all-second team.

Mayoral, a Mission Hills High School product, played in all 11 conference games and started in 10. In the 13.3 minutes she averaged a game, she shot 32.3 percent in the field and 33 percent at the 3-point line. She racked up 37 rebounds and 19 steals. In addition to averaging 12.4 points per game, she dished out 14 assists. Mayoral had a career-high 25 points against San Diego Mesa College in their 70-51 victory. She also had 22 points against San Diego City College in the first round of conference. Mayoral was also named PCAC Athlete-of-the-Month for November.

Bland, another Mission Hills product, started in eight of the 11 conference games. She averaged 15.5 minutes per game where she averaged 9.3 points. She shot 36.3 percent in the field and 39.6 percent at the 3-point line, the second-best on the team. Bland also led the conference in 3-point percentage. She had 19 assists in conference play and 13 steals to go along with 52 rebounds. She recorded her first double-double against San Diego City on Feb. 7 when she had 11 rebounds and 17 points. Bland was one of the PCAC Athletes-of-the-Month for January.

Crabtree started all 11 conference games for the Comets this season. The Westview alumna was the team's leading rebounder nabbing 80 alone in conference games. She has 217 on the season, third-best in the conference. Crabtree had 24 steals in conference and five blocks. In the 14.2 minutes she averaged, she scored 3.8 points per game. she shot 60.6 percent in the field and dished out nine assists.

Saelee, a sophomore from northern California, started in two of the 11 games for the Comets. She broke the program's record for made 3-pointers in a game against Grossmont College, draining nine, giving her 36 points, a career-high. Saelee averaged 12.2 minutes and 12.3 points per game. She had 16 assists, 21 steals and 27 rebounds.

Williams, a Mira Mesa High School product, played in nine games for the Comets and started in seven. She had 22 assists and 18 steals to go along with 17 rebounds. Williams averaged 13.7 minutes per game and scored 6.7 points. She was in double-digits scoring-wise one time in conference play when she had 15 points against Southwestern College on Jan. 29.
