Lutz named 3CFCA Player of the Week
LOS ANGELES — First-year utility infielder Breanna Lutz of Palomar College and sophomore starting pitcher Kaitlyn Reynolds of Cypress College have earned the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CF2A) Player and Pitcher of the Week honors.
Lutz led all nominees with 10 hits in 14 official at-bats, including both a pair of doubles and a pair of homers. In addition to the .714 average at the dish, Lutz drove in 10 and scored five times herself. The first-year infielder led Palomar to four wins and is batting .577 overall.
Reynolds was a workhorse for Cypress, starting all five of their games and pitching to a tune of five runs (only two earned) in 28 innings. The sophomore right-hander shutout Mt. SAC in back-to-back games of a doubleheader, racking up 16 strikeouts by week's end.
It is the first career conference weekly recognition for both Lutz and Reynolds.
