Comets flood all-conference selections with 11 picks
Eleven Comets received Pacific Conference Athletic Conference All-Conference team selections. Six were chosen for first team, two for second team and three received honorable mentions.
Sarah Fisher, Megan Wachholtz, Kylie Pignone, Allie Hughen, Kendall Kates and Samantha Renteria made first team all-conference.
Fisher the Comets with a batting average of .488 overall and a conference average of .522. She has four home runs on the season and 43 RBIs.
Wachholtz has a batting average of .474 and has 34 RBIs overall. The sophomore has a better record in conference: a .553 batting average.
Pignone is a sophomore outfielder. She has an overall batting average of .432 and a conference average of .471. She has 29 RBIs on the season.
Hughen, a sophomore from Rancho Buena Vista High School, is a pitcher and an infielder for the Comets. As a pitcher she led the conference with an ERA of 0.55 and recorded 95 strikeouts in 20 appearances. On the offensive side, she has a batting average of .406 and has 16 RBIs.
Kates recorded her first career homerun this season and has a batting average of .412 with 28 RBIs.
Renteria is a designated hitter for the Comets. She has a batting average of .455 and has 36 RBIs on the season.
Catalina Aguilar and Rylee Penrod made second team all-conference.
Penrod is a freshman from Escondido High School. She leads the team in home runs, with six on the season. She has a batting average of .362 and has 42 RBIs.
Aguilar, a freshman pitcher from Highland High School in Palmdale, led the conference in strikeouts with 119 in 28 appearances. She has an ERA of 1.87.
Taylor Riley, Audrey Braun and Antionette Robinson made honorable mention all-conference.
Riley has played in 26 games for the Comets this season. She has a batting average of .400 and has six RBIs.
As a pitcher, sophomore Braun has 22 appearances and has started nine games this season. She has pitched three complete games and two shutouts. Braun has an ERA of 2.67 and has 40 strikeouts.
Robinson is a freshman shortstop from Mt. Carmel High School. In the 36 games she has played this season, Robinson has 15 hits and 15 runs with 12 RBIs.
