Softball clinches PCAC title

Wednesday: Palomar defeated College of the Desert 21-1 in five innings on Wednesday.

Rylee Penrod was a perfect 4-4 on the day and had six RBIs, which included a three-run home run in the fifth inning. Kylie Pignone was 1-3 and had two RBIs. Samantha Renteria was also perfect on the day going 2-2 with two RBIs. Kendall Kates was 3-4 with two RBIs. Taylor Riley was a perfect 2-2 with an RBI of her own.

Allie Hughen pitched two innings and had five strikeouts and gave up one hit and a run. Catalina Aguilar also pitched two innings and had five strikeouts. Audrey Braun pitched the last inning and had one strikeout and one out.  

 

Friday: Palomar beat Grossmont 16-0 in five innings on Friday.

Kylie Pignone was perfect on the day going 4-4 with two RBIs. Sarah Fisher was also perfect. She was 3-3 with one RBI. Samantha Renteria was 2-3 with four RBIs. Rylee Penrod was 1-3, thanks to a three-run home run in the fourth inning. That was her sixth on the season.

On the pitching side of things, Allie Hughen pitched two innings. She faced seven batters and struck out six and gave up one hit. Catalina Aguilar pitched two innings and had five strikeouts. Audrey Braun pitched the fifth inning and had one strikeout.

Palomar clinched the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference title, their sixth consecutive title.

The Comets will be back on the field tomorrow for a doubleheader game against College of the Canyons. First game will be at 12:30 p.m.
