DesLaurier's 2 HRs Lift PC To Cypress Rematch

CYPRESS (5-13-2017) -- Crystal DesLauriers (left) slugged home runs in the second and fifth innings, driving in three runs and keeping Palomar alive in the Cypress Super Regional on Saturday afternoon with an 8-7 win over Santiago Canyon.

Cypress remained unbeaten at 44-0 with a 3-2, nine-inning victory over the Comets earlier in the day. The Comets and Chargers will play for the Super Regional championship on Sunday at noon. Palomar must beat Cypress twice to advance to next weekend's CCCAA State Championship at Bakersfield, with an additional game to follow in the Comets win the noon game.

DesLauriers' two-run homer and Brie Dunckel's two-run double brought Palomar back from a 6-4 deficit against the defending state champion Santiago Canyon Hawks with a four-run fifth inning that allowed the Comets to advance to 30-12 on the season. DesLauriers (2-for-4), Taylour Fa'asua (3-for-3, double, RBI), Dunckel (2-for-3, double, 2 RBIs), Madisyn Turrman (2-for-4, double, RBI), Tiere Paopao (2-for-4, double, RBI) and Lexi Williams (2-for-3) all had multiple hits for the Comets.

DesLauriers pitched another complete game to advance to 24-6.
