Comets Defeat Grossmont, Secure Most Wins Since 2019 Season

SAN MARCOS, CA (4/4/2025) -- The Palomar College men's volleyball team continued their strong finish to the season with a 3-1 victory over Grossmont College on Friday night (25-19, 14-25, 25-20, 25-21). With the win, the Comets improve to 6-14, marking their highest win total since the 2019 season.

Sophomore Tyler Yraceburn once again led the offensive charge, tallying a team-high 22 kills on 54 swings, hitting .278 and adding one service ace, a block assist, and three digs. Middle blocker Nolan Apodaca was dominant at the net, contributing 11 kills and a team-best four block assists while hitting .269.

Justus Pfeiffer and Aidon Gardiner added crucial offensive production, notching five kills each and combining for six total block assists. Pfeiffer hit .333 on the night and chipped in a service ace, while Gardiner added five digs on defense.

Setter Jacob Rangel recorded 43 assists to fuel the Comets' offense and added two digs. Robert Pukahi anchored the back row with nine digs, and Apodaca led all players with 10 digs. Like Pihana added three digs, while Noah Frontelara and Brandon Guzman each had four and two, respectively.

Palomar totaled 49 kills and hit .240 as a team, while also picking up seven block assists and 40 digs in a well-rounded performance.

The Comets will look to keep building momentum as they head into the final stretch of the season.
