Comets Compete in First PCAC Invite at Crafton Hills

YUCIPACA, CA (3/14/2025) -- Palomar College swim teams hit the water for the first Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) Invite of the season at Crafton Hills College, with several swimmers notching season-best marks and continuing to build momentum.

Men's Highlights

John Fritz continued to pace the Comets, earning two gold medals and a silver while competing in the 100-yard IM (59.13), 50-yard freestyle (23.52), and 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.76). While his times were slightly off from earlier season bests, Fritz's consistency and versatility remain key strengths.

Brian Otto swam a 5:59.80 in the 500-yard freestyle and trimmed time in the 50 free (27.72) and 100 breaststroke (1:18.67), showing improvement from the last meet. Kameron Lypps made gains in the 100 free (1:04.66) and 100 breast (1:22.69), while James Ellsworth rounded out the group with a 1:09.05 in the 100 free.

Women's Highlights

Tiana Timmons had a standout performance, capturing gold in the 500-yard freestyle (6:01.00) and medaling in two other events. Her 100-yard backstroke time of 1:10.99 marked an improvement over her Mt. SAC swim. Devyn Wible followed close behind in the 500 free (6:02.66) and swam a solid 100 back (1:15.01).

Ruby Jones continued to lead the women's squad with solid swims in the 100 free (1:01.00), 50 free (28.97), 100 IM (1:12.93), and 100 back (1:12.95), showing consistency across a busy slate of events. Georgia Jensen and Lillian Brown contributed key swims, while Emily Freeman posted a 29.48 in the 50 free and 1:24.00 in the 100 breast.

On the Rise

With strong efforts across both squads, the Comets are making steady progress as the season continues. Improved times and medal finishes show that Palomar is sharpening its edge in the PCAC as championship season approaches.

More competition awaits as the Comets prepare for the next conference invite and continue to chase personal bests in the pool.
