IMPERIAL, CA (11/8/2024) -- The Palomar College men's soccer team closed out their regular season on a high note, defeating Imperial Valley College 3-1 on Friday. The win moves the Comets to a final overall record of 6-9-5.
Palomar set the tone early with Christian Shaw finding the back of the net in the 4th minute, assisted by Arturo Atilano-Gutierrez. The Comets continued to apply pressure, and their persistence paid off with a second goal in the 38th minute, giving them a comfortable lead heading into halftime.
Imperial Valley responded early in the second half, scoring in the 48th minute to cut Palomar's lead to 2-1. However, the Comets' defense held strong, and any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Diego Solorio sealed the victory with a goal in the 89th minute, set up by an assist from Felix Hamm.
