Comets and Olympians end in stalemate

SAN MARCOS, CA (9/29/2023) -- Palomar College hosted San Diego Mesa College on Friday night for their first conference match under the lights and ended in a 2-2 stalemate.

Palomar scored first when Artur Trifol connected a pass from Alexis Venegas to a 1-0 lead in the first 15 minutes. Mesa tied it up right before halftime. The Comets retook the lead early in the second half on a penalty kick by Lucas Meirelles at the 49-minute mark. For the next thirty minutes the Comets kept building but couldn't convert. Mesa found the back of net in the 81st minute to tie it back up.

The Comets are now 4-2-4 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play. They will head to MiraCosta College on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
