SAN MARCOS, CA (10/21/2022) -- Palomar hosted San Diego Mesa College in their final matchup of the season and won 5-1 on Friday night.
Down 1-0 at halftime, the Comets decided to go all gas and no brakes in the 15-minute chaotic period. Marius Anquetil, hot off a hat trick from Tuesday's match, scored the first goal for the Comets by flying past the Olympian defenders. Three minutes later, Diego Picano and Eddie Villagrana teamed up to score another goal to give the Comets the lead. In the 66th minute, Kael Kortz scored off assists from Villagrana and Anquetil to extend the lead. With the pressure still on, Alex Vidican connected a pass from Villagrana for another Comet goal. It was roughly another 20 minutes before Anquetil scored the match's final goal off an assist from Cesar Velasquez.
Palomar moves to 9-3-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play. They will face North County rival MiraCosta College on Tuesday on the road for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
