Golf captures PCAC crown after dominating tournament

OCEANSIDE, CA (4/29/2019) -- The Comets capped off their conference play with a conference championship, finishing with 44 wins and four losses.

The first round the Comets shot a 392, a three-shot lead over College of the Desert. The team shot a 380 in round two. The Comets' final score was a 772, with COD finishing in second place with a total score of 822.

Jacob Montes won player of the year after having a total score 742 in all conference rounds. In the first championship round, Montes shot a 76, and in the second round had a 73.

Alex Rhee was the low medalist for the championship round shooting for a combined score of 148, a 77 in round one and a 71 in the second round.

Zach Brown had a score of 75 in round one and 79 in the second round. Kyoshiro Azumada had a first-round score of 84 and shot 78 in the second round. Richard Jeppesen shot an 80 in the first round and in the second round scored an 86.

Kyle Hazlett rounded out the team with a first-round score of 86, followed by a 79 in the second round.

Montes, Rhee, Brown, Azumada and Jeppesen made the all-conference.

The CCCAA Southern California Regional Championship is scheduled for May 6 at Los Serranos Golf Club.
