Bio

Ivan Patterson, a former standout guard at California Baptist University, was a two-time all-conference player (2012) and (2014) and joined the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes in 2018.

While playing he helped lead the Lancers to their first ever Pacific West championship and in the same year helped the Lancers make their first ever NCAA Division II playoff appearance. Patterson joined the coaching staff in 2016 and in his two seasons coaching there, led by Rick Croy the Lancers boasted an impressive 54-11 record and were the Division II West Regional champions (2017-2018).

From 2018-2022 working under the highly respected head coach, Andrew Newman the Coyotes hold a remarkable 60-25 record. Recently, during the 2021-2022 season Cal State San Bernardino were nationally ranked #3 in NCAA Division II (24-4), clinched first place in the CCAA conference, and hosted the NCAA Division II Western Regional Championship at Coussoulis Arena.

Ivan Patterson attended high school at Paloma Valley (Menifee, CA) where he earned an athletic scholarship to Cal Baptist University. There he received his business management degree (2014) and later would return to earn his master’s degree in Kinesiology (2016). Patterson played professionally in Peru and Bolivia for two years.
