
Comets Bounce Back in Record-Breaking Offensive Performance Against Imperial Valley
SAN MARCOS, CA (2/12/2025) -- After a tough road loss to San Diego Miramar, the Palomar College men's basketball team responded in dominant fashion, rolling past Imperial Valley College 115-60 on Wednesday night at the Dome. The Comets put together their best shooting performance of the season, hitting 52.5% from the field while also setting season highs in rebounds (67) and assists (26).
Leading the charge was Isaiah Pomare, who delivered a monster game with 36 points and 20 rebounds, marking one of the most dominant individual performances of the season. The forward shot an efficient 14-for-20 from the field and was nearly perfect at the free-throw line, going 8-for-9.
Matin Madadkar also had a career night, scoring 26 points on 9-of-13 shooting while adding five rebounds. Max Zylicz provided an all-around effort with 18 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Isaiah Tolmaire orchestrated the offense masterfully, finishing with 14 points, eight assists, and three steals.
Palomar jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, outscoring the Desert Warriors 62-32 in the first half. The Comets dominated inside, scoring 60 points in the paint while limiting Imperial Valley to just 26.8% shooting from the field. Their rebounding dominance led to 24 second-chance points, and they pushed the pace for 19 fast-break points.
With the win, Palomar improves to 16-9 overall and 9-4 in conference play, holding strong in the hunt for a top finish. The Comets now shift their focus to another key road matchup as they travel to face Grossmont College on Friday night at 5 p.m.
