Comets dominates in season opener

MIRAMAR, CA (11/3/2022) -- In their season opener under first-year head coach Ivan Patterson, the Palomar Comets defeated the Los Angeles Valley Monarchs 90-61 to advance them to the winner's bracket of the Don Gehler Memorial Tournament at San Diego Miramar College. 

Palomar returns several familiar faces including Nathaniel Washington, Clyde Harris and Andrew Milot who had 13, 12 and 11 points, respectively. Newcomer Adam Sevier led all Comets with 18 points on the day going 8-12 in the field. Harris finished the day 4-8, 4-4 at the charity stripe, with six rebounds, one assist, three steals and one block. 

As a team, the Comets shot 51.5.% in the field and 33.3% at the 3-point line. They lost the rebound battle 37-33, but caused 37 turnovers to their own 17. 

Palomar moves to 1-0 on the season and will face host San Diego Miramar College on Friday for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
