No. 8 Palomar Falls to Grossmont 10-2 at Bob Vetter Field

SAN MARCOS, CA (3/27/2025) -- No. 8 Palomar College struggled to find its rhythm on Thursday afternoon, falling 10-2 to Grossmont College in Game 2 of their three-game series at Bob Vetter Field.

Grossmont took control early, scoring four runs in the second inning to put the Comets in an early deficit. Palomar responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning on a sacrifice fly from Justin Tucker, but the Griffins continued to extend their lead.

Ian Mowad (2-3) took the loss on the mound, allowing five runs on six hits over four innings while striking out three. Grossmont added three more runs in the fifth and tacked on insurance runs in the eighth and ninth to secure the victory.

Offensively, Tucker led the way for the Comets, going 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk. Ryan Stinson added a hit and a run scored, while Jack Nelson chipped in with a single. Palomar had chances with runners on base but struggled to capitalize, stranding eight men throughout the game.

With the loss, Palomar (19-8, 10-2 PCAC) looks to bounce back in the series finale on Friday afternoon. The Comets will aim to regain momentum and take the series as they continue their push in conference play.
