
Palomar Shuts Down Southwestern for 3-1 Road Victory
CHULA VISTA, CA (3/10/2025) -- Behind a dominant pitching performance, the No. 12-ranked Palomar College baseball team defeated Southwestern College 3-1 on Monday afternoon at The Junction. The Comets relied on stellar outings from Brandon Bollerer and Jacob Imoto, along with timely hitting, to improve to 14-7 overall and 6-1 in PCAC play.
Pitching Leads the Way
Brandon Bollerer (W, 3-0) delivered a brilliant start, tossing 7.1 innings while allowing just one run on four hits, striking out two and walking none. He kept Southwestern off balance all afternoon before handing the ball to Jacob Imoto, who recorded the final five outs for his third save of the season. Imoto retired all five batters he faced, striking out two to slam the door on the Jaguars.
Comets Capitalize on Opportunities
After four scoreless innings, Palomar broke through in the fifth, scoring the game's first run on an RBI groundout by Carter Jorissen. In the seventh, the Comets added an insurance run when TK Madera lined an RBI single, making it 2-0.
Southwestern's only run came in the bottom of the eighth on a solo home run by Maddox Haley, but Palomar quickly responded in the top of the ninth, manufacturing an insurance run to seal the victory.
