
Palomar Dominates Grossmont in Conference Opener, 16-3
SAN MARCOS, CA (2/27/2025) -- The Palomar College baseball team opened conference play in explosive fashion, routing Grossmont College 16-3 at home on Thursday. The Comets pounded out 13 hits and capitalized on Grossmont's defensive struggles to cruise to victory.
Early Offensive Surge
Palomar wasted no time jumping on the board, scoring two runs in the first inning before breaking the game open with a five-run second inning. Brendan Shanahan sparked the rally with a two-run triple, followed by RBI hits from Carter Jorissen and TK Madera.
The Comets kept the pressure on, adding runs in the third, sixth, seventh, and a dominant five-run eighth inning to seal the blowout. Madera and Shanahan each drove in multiple runs, while Justin Tucker contributed with a three-hit performance.
Strong Pitching Performance
Palomar's pitching was equally impressive. Ian Mowad (2-2) earned the win, pitching six strong innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits while striking out seven. Jacob Imoto took over in relief and shut down Grossmont over the final three innings, allowing just one hit while striking out one to secure the victory.
