Comets handle Brahmas with ease

SAN MARCOS, CA (2/18/2023) -- Palomar defeated LA Pierce College 23-7 on Saturday afternoon to move to 6-4 on the season.

The Comets plated 10 runs in the fourth inning. Here's how it went down. Noah Lazuka had a leadoff double. He then advanced on a wild pitch. Tanner Lappin walked to put runners on the corners. Erik Larsen then singled to score Lazuka. Hunter Stencil moved the runners to second and third on a sac bunt. Caden Szuba was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jack Sanders was then also hit by a pitch for an RBI.

Enter Quincy Scott. The same guy who had eight RBI on Thursday against Orange Coast College. He decided eight RBI weren't enough for the week as he homered for a grand slam to bring his total to 12 RBI for the week.

But the Comets weren't done. Carter Hain singled. Then Kyle Harvey singled and Hain advanced to third. Batting around, Lazuka singled to score Hain.

Pitching change for the Brahmas.

Lappin then singled to score Harvey. Larsen walked. Bases loaded again. Stencil walked. RBI. Szuba had a sac fly to score Lappin for the final run of the inning.

The Comets tacked on seven more runs in the sixth, two more in the seventh and three more in the eighth.

Freshman pitcher Logan Hunt had a one-hit shutout going into the sixth inning. He recorded 10 strikeouts in his five-inning outing and received his first decision of the season. The Brahmas were finally able to play some offense in the sixth inning when they scored three runs. They scored four more runs in the top of the ninth inning.

Palomra moves to 6-4 and will host Glendale College on Tuesday for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
