Comets split week

SAN MARCOS, CA (2/5/22) -- Following a 7-3 win over Glendale College on Friday afternoon, the Comets fell 13-8 to Fullerton College. 

On Friday, Quincy Scott and Ethan Ellis both went 2-4, while Scott drove in three runs. Shortstop Liam Bailey went 1-4 with two RBIs. Dylan Delvecchio was the starting pitcher. Through six complete innings, Delvecchio allowed just four hits and one walk. He faced 26 batters and struck out eight. 

Saturday's matchup between the Comets and Hornets was all tied up at eight apiece going into the eighth inning. Down 8-4 in the seventh inning, the Comets delivered to keep themselves in the game. With the bases loaded, the hot hitter Quincy Scott was in the batter's box when he was walked. Shortstop Liam Bailey was next up and singled to drive in catcher Devlin Lindeman nd first baseman Tanner Lappin. Runners on the corners and Ethan Ellis sacrifices himself to bring Scott home and tie the game. Fullerton came back in the top of the eighth and scored five additional runs to seal the deal. 

The starting pitcher was Logan Parker. He lasted four innings and allowed six runs on six hits. He struck out five batters. In relief for the Comets were Christian Wood, Trent Lopez, Jack Kelley, Austin Schroeder and Connor McBride. Wood pitched three innings and allowed two runs on two hits and struck out four. 

Palomar sits at 2-2 and will face Orange Coast on Tuesday for a 1 p.m. on the road.
