Five Comets Are Named To All-PCAC 1st Team

SAN DIEGO (4-10-2017) -- Five Palomar players, third baseman Conor McKenna, first baseman Grant Buck, relief pitcher Ryan Semon, left fielder Joey Cooper and designated hitter Cameron Haskell, have been voted to the All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference baseball first team by conference coaches.

Semon went 9-0 on the season, with all his wins coming out of the bullpen, and also had two saves. He finished with a 1.54 earned run average. In conference games, the freshman left-hander out of Valley Center High School was 6-0 with one save and a 1.76 ERA.

Cooper, a sophomore out of Highland High School in Bakersfield, led the Comes in hitting with averages of .434 (season) and .438 (conference).

Buck, a sophomore from Carlsbad High School, hit .371 for the season and .434 in PCC games.

McKenna, a freshman from Carlsbad, hit .365 on the year and .419 in conference games.

Haskell, a sophomore from Chaparral High School in Temecula and a transfer from UC Riverside, hit .357 on the year and .381 in PCAC games.

Palomar's honorable mention selections were freshman centerfielder Marco Young (Del Norte High); sophomore shortstop Jared Montoya (Castle Rock, Colorado / Central Arizona CC); sophomore rightfielder Jordan Gardner (Temecula Valley High); sophomore relief pitcher-third baseman Jonathan Vizcaino (Francis Parker High / Susquehanna University); freshman pitcher Josh Sidney (Torrey Pines High); freshman pitcher Nate Stilinovich (Murrieta Mesa High); freshman second baseman Gabe Willes (La Costa Canyon High); and freshman catcher Tristan King (Perth, Australia / Timberline High in Boise, Idaho).
