Comets Fall A Game Out With 3 Left To Play

EL CAJON (4-22-2017) -- Palomar fell a game behind first-place Grossmont in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference baseball race with three games remaining on Saturday when the Comets lost 7-4 on the road to the Griffins.

The G-House is 26-7-1, 19-2 in conference with three games remaining against College of the Desert this upcoming week. Palomar falls to 28-8, 18-3 with three games to play against 
the PCAC's third-place team, Southwestern.

The Comets took a 3-0 lead over the Griffins inthe top of the third, putting togher back-to-back singles by Jared Montoya and Triswtan King with one out, a two-out RBI double by Joey Cooper, an RBI single by Jordan Gardner and a balk that allowed a run to score from third.

But Grossmont came right back to score four runs in the bottom of the inning and led the rest of the way.

Grant Buck and Cameron Haskell had multiple-hit performances for the Comets. Buck went 2-for-5 with a double and a stolen base. Haskell also was 2-for-5. Conor McKenna contributed an RBI single. Gardner was 1-for-3 and walked twice. Gabe Willes also drew two walks and stole a base.

Cabot Van Til, the ninth hitter in Grossmont's batting order, won the game for the Griffins by slugging two home runs and driving in four runs.
